Health science and medical programs are some of the most popular areas of study around. But since the majority of these programs have a limited number of available seats, admissions are extremely competitive. Furthermore, most colleges and universities require undergraduate students to complete two years of general education and prerequisite courses before they can even apply to a limited enrollment program.
Baker College is pleased to offer opportunities for high-achieving incoming freshmen to earn the degree they want, without delay, through our direct admission program. Direct admissions allow qualified students to secure a seat in any of the limited enrollment programs offered by the College of Health Science.
How does Direct Admission work?
Direct admission guarantees that freshmen will be granted acceptance into their professional program of choice, beginning their sophomore year. To be accepted for direct admission, students must meet certain academic and testing requirements, and maintain an acceptable academic standing throughout the course of their undergraduate studies.

Baker College currently offers direct admission to ten limited enrollment programs through our College of Health Science. Learn more about each of these individual programs below.
Requirements for Direct Admission
To be considered for direct admission, you’ll need to submit the following items:
- A Baker College application
- A copy of your high school transcripts
- Minimum 3.5 GPA
- Minimum 2.7 grade or higher in biology and one other science course
These items must be received by Baker College Admissions before December 15 of your senior year of high school.
First-Year Requirements
To retain your place in any of our direct admissions programs, you must meet the following requirements:
- Complete 28 core credit hours during your freshman year
- 15 credits in General Education – COM 1010, MTH 1010, COM 1020, PSY 2050, General Education Elective
- 13 credits in Health Science – HSC 1010, BIO 1210 & BIO 1211, BIO 1220 & BIO 2221, BIO 2150
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Must earn a minimum grade of 2.0 in all general education courses and a grade of 2.7 in all health science courses.
- An aptitude test is required (for Fall 2021).
- Submit a Health Science Limited Enrollment Application to confirm program and campus selection.

No. Transfer students must go through a competitive process to be accepted into our limited enrollment programs.
Unfortunately, no. Direct admission students must follow a full-time schedule and maintain progress with their class throughout the program.
Students who are not admitted to the direct admission class will still have the opportunity to compete for a seat in the professional portion of our programs via a competitive admissions process at the end of their freshman year.
High schoolers must submit their application and transcripts by December 15 of their senior year. The direct admission deadline for the Fall 2022 semester is December 15, 2021.
Students must accept their direct admission offer by April 1 of their senior year.
