Baker College Online Enrollment Grows by 85 Percent
More than 1,100 undergraduate students attend 100% of their classes online.
Baker Online officials today announced a record 1,168 undergraduate students attended online classes exclusively spring quarter 2002, marking an 85.6 percent enrollment increase over spring quarter 2001.
System wide, more than 10,200 Baker College students - about half of the enrollment for Michigan's largest independent college - attend classes online, making Baker Online one of the largest online programs in existence. Participation in online classes ranges from the nearly 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students who take 100 percent of their classes online, to students who combine online classes with campus-based classes, to campus-based classes which include some portion of coursework online.
"Baker is progressive in the delivery of education," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online. "To be a leader in the career education and training field, we must integrate the best instructional technology into the delivery of education to our students. That means more and more instructors are offering hybrid classes, combining online technology with on-ground instruction."
Baker Online is part of the largest independent college system in Michigan and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
