Baker College Online Into Second Decade Of Double-Digit Growth

Officials report summer enrollment increase of 11.3 percent; new student enrollment up 21.9 percent

FLINT, Mich. - Baker College Online continues to report a double-digit growth trend that is now into its second decade. Officials today announced an 11.3 percent increase in 2007 summer enrollment compared to the same period in 2006. With new student enrollment up 21.9 percent, a total of 3,012 undergraduate students attended online classes exclusively during summer quarter 2007.

"Baker College Online recently added a bachelor of CIS database technology program, bringing our total number of undergraduate programs to 27," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online. "We also doubled the size of our facilities and entered into a partnership with Apple's iTunes University to allow instructors and students to create their own podcasts and course content." She added, "We continually strive to offer a wide range of affordable programs, state-of-the-art facilities and the latest online trends to attract individuals interested in pursing a career-focused education."

A total of 10,464 students throughout the Baker College system took Baker Online classes this summer quarter. This total includes:

  • 3,747 students who took 100 percent of their classes online, including 3,012 undergraduate students and 735 MBA students

  • 3,419 students who took a combination of online classes and campus-based classes

  • 3,298 students who took campus-based classes including some online coursework, a 21.2 percent increase over summer 2006

    This summer, new student enrollment at Baker Center for Graduate Studies increased 20.9 percent, and 735 students were earning their MBAs exclusively online.
