BAKER ONLINE POSTS 72 PERCENT ENROLLMENT INCREASE FOR WINTER QUARTER

Baker Center for Graduate Studies Announces 28 Percent Increase

FLINT, Mich. ­ - ­ Baker College system officials today announced a 72 percent winter quarter enrollment increase for Baker Online over the same period in 2002. More than 15,543 students throughout the Baker system are currently taking Baker Online classes this winter quarter. This total includes:

  • 2,672 undergraduate and graduate students who are taking 100 percent of their classes online (compared to 1,870 students during this same period last year). These students represent 48 states, eight countries and several undisclosed military locations.

  • 5,394 students who take a combination of online classes and campus-based classes.

  • 7,477 students who take campus-based classes including some online coursework.
"Each quarter, Baker integrates more leading technology into our delivery of higher education," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online. "The result is providing busy adults with a variety of flexible options for pursing their higher education goals."

Also today, Baker College Center for Graduate Studies announced a 28 percent increase in enrollment, with 986 students enrolled winter quarter 2003, increasing from 769 students winter quarter 2002. A total of 826 Baker MBA students are currently attending 100 percent of their classes online through Baker Online.
