Baker College Center for Graduate Studies Appoints Dr. J.C. Vinton as Dean of Doctoral Studies and Director of DBA Program
FLINT, Mich. - Baker College Center for Graduate Studies officials today announced the appointment of John C. Vinton, Ph.D., as dean of doctoral studies and director of Baker's pending doctor of business administration (DBA) program. He is initially responsible for completing the development of Baker's DBA program and seeking program approval from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
"The development of a doctoral program signifies a new era for Baker," said Michael E. Heberling, Ph.D., president of Baker College Center for Graduate Studies. "As we move toward program approval, it is imperative that someone with outstanding credentials lead this effort. Without a doubt, John is that individual."
Vinton has more than 35 years experience in the field of higher education, having accepted leadership positions at colleges and universities throughout the United States. His professional experience includes a diverse number of assignments, including director of admissions, director of student life, dean of students, director of public administration programs, doctorate program director of applied management and decision sciences, chair of the management division and dean of the school of management. Vinton has also created several international partnerships with educational institutions in Mexico, Latin America and Europe.
An expert presenter and author of numerous articles, Vinton is a consultant evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of Sigma Iota Epsilon, a management honorary society affiliated with the Academy of Management and American Management Association.
A resident of Vadnais Heights, Minn., Vinton holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Carleton College, Northfield, Minn., a master's degree in industrial relations from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and a doctorate in organizational behavior from Case Western University, Cleveland, Ohio.
