Baker College Online Posts 8.8 Percent Winter Enrollment Increase

FLINT, Mich. - Officials at Baker College Online today announced an 8.8 percent increase in winter quarter online enrollment compared to the same period in 2006. A total of 4,203 undergraduate students attended online classes exclusively during winter quarter 2007.

"Approximately 95 percent of Baker online students are employed, striving to juggle career and family responsibilities," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online. "For these individuals, averaging 36 years of age, Baker College Online represents a practicable alternative to conventional classes and a means to achieve career goals."

A total of 26,859 students throughout the Baker College system took Baker Online classes this winter quarter. This total includes:

  • 5,213 students who took 100 percent of their classes online, including 4,203 undergraduate students and 1,010 MBA students

  • 6,722 students who took a combination of online classes and campus-based classes

  • 14,924 students who took campus-based classes including some online coursework, a 28.8 percent increase over winter 2006

    A total of 1,010 students were enrolled at Baker Center for Graduate Studies this winter, with all earning their MBAs completely online.
