Baker College Online posts 21 percent enrollment increase for summer quarter, continuing double-digit growth trend
Baker Center for Graduate Studies new student enrollment grows by 13.4 percent
FLINT, Mich. -
Continuing a double-digit growth trend that spans 10 years, the Baker College Online distance learning program posted a 21 percent increase in summer quarter online undergraduate enrollment compared to the same period in 2004. A total of 2,441 undergraduate students attended online classes exclusively during summer quarter 2005. Contributing to the increase in online enrollment has been the steady growth in the military student sector.
"Our online program has become particularly attractive to the men and women in the military," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online. "Baker Online is one of the few ways that our mobile military student population can continue their education no matter where they are based and how often they are transferred."
A total of 8,037 students throughout the Baker College system took Baker Online classes this summer quarter. This total includes:
3,286 students who took 100 percent of their classes online, including 2,441 undergraduate students and 845 MBA students
2,698 students who took a combination of online classes and campus-based classes
2,053 students who took campus-based classes including some online coursework, a 54 percent increase over summer 2004
