Baker College Online Posts 10 Percent Summer Enrollment Increase
Baker Online continues 10-year double-digit growth span
FLINT, Mich. -Continuing a double-digit growth trend that spans more than 10 years, the Baker College Online distance learning program announced a 10 percent overall increase in summer quarter online enrollment compared to the same period in 2005.
"In a recent study, it was predicted that by early 2008, one in 10 college students will be enrolled in an online degree program," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online. "At any given time, our online students represent more than 25 percent of Baker's total enrollment."
A total of 8,846 students throughout the Baker College system took Baker Online classes this summer quarter. This total includes:
- 3,495 students who took 100 percent of their classes online, including 2,698 undergraduate students and 797 MBA students
- 2,630 students who took a combination of online classes and campus-based classes
- 2,721 students who took campus-based classes including some online coursework, a 32.5 percent increase over summer 2005
