FLINT, Mich. - Continuing a double-digit growth trend that spans nine
years, the Baker College Online distance learning program posted a 23.8
percent increase in summer quarter online undergraduate enrollment
compared to the same period in 2003. A total of 2,018 undergraduate
students attended online classes exclusively during summer quarter 2004.
"Baker Online has continued to grow steadily in the areas of business
administration and computer science," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president,
Baker College Online. "Based on our enrollment trends, these fields are
equally attractive to our students from the U.S. and abroad."
During summer quarter, a total of 6,034 students throughout the Baker
College system participated in Baker Online classes. This total includes:
- 2,781 students who took 100 percent of their classes online,
including 2,018 undergraduate students and 763 MBA students.
- 1,921 students who took a combination of online classes and
campus-based classes.
- 1,332 students who took campus-based classes including some online
coursework.
Also today, Baker College Center for Graduate Studies announced a 2.8
percent increase in enrollment, growing from 742 students summer quarter
2003 to 763 students summer quarter 2004.
"This summer, 98 percent of Baker MBA students participated in online
classes," said Mike Heberling, Ph.D., Baker College Center for Graduate
Studies president. "Having a quality online MBA program that is both
affordable and accredited has helped Baker to maintain its steady
enrollment growth among working adults."
The Baker Center for Graduate Studies and Baker Online are part of Baker
