Baker College Online Posts 29 Percent Enrollment Increase For Fall Quarter

FLINT, Mich. ­ - The Baker College Online distance learning program announced a 29 percent enrollment increase in fall quarter 2004 online enrollment compared to the same period in 2003.

During fall quarter, a total of 16,963 students throughout the Baker College system participated in Baker Online classes. This total includes:

  • 3,892 undergraduate and MBA students who took 100 percent of their classes online.

  • 4,109 students who took a combination of online classes and campus-based classes.

  • 8,962 students who took campus-based classes including some online coursework.

"The largest increase in fall quarter online enrollment was found in Web-enhanced classes," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online. "This fall, the number of students who took campus-based classes including some online coursework increased by 36 percent over the previous fall quarter. As Baker continues to incorporate the most advanced instructional technology into our teaching methods, we anticipate more online participation through Web-enhanced classes."
