FLINT, Mich. -
Continuing a double-digit growth trend that spans more than 10 years, the Baker College Online distance learning program posted a 25.7 percent increase in winter quarter online undergraduate enrollment compared to the same period in 2005. A total of 3,863 undergraduate students attended online classes exclusively during winter quarter 2006.
One segment that continues to demonstrate steady growth is the military student population.
"Through our 'Go Army Ed project, we offer our men and women in the military the programs necessary to move forward during their military career or upon discharge," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online.
A total of 21,338 students throughout the Baker College system took Baker Online classes this winter quarter. This total includes:
* 4,951 students who took 100 percent of their classes online, including 3,863 undergraduate students and 1,088 MBA students
* 4,801 students who took a combination of online classes and campus-based classes
* 11,586 students who took campus-based classes including some online coursework, a 22 percent increase over winter 2005
A total of 1,088 students were enrolled at Baker Center for Graduate Studies this winter, with all earning their MBAs completely online.
