Baker Online Announces 32% Enrollment Increase for Winter Quarter
Baker Center for Graduate Studies announces 10 percent increase

FLINT, Mich. ­ - Baker Online continued its double-digit enrollment growth trend, as Baker College system officials today announced a 32 percent increase in student enrollment for winter quarter 2004 compared to the same period in 2003.

A total of 15,183 students throughout the Baker College system took Baker Online classes this winter quarter. This total includes:

  • 3,468 online exclusive students, including 2,448 undergraduate and 1,020 MBA students who took 100 percent of their classes online (compared to 2,672 students during the same period in 2003). These students represent 50 states, a number of foreign countries and several undisclosed military locations.

  • 4,006 students who took a combination of online classes and campus-based classes.

  • 7,707 students who took campus-based classes including some online coursework.

"Baker Online has experienced tremendous growth in the segment of students who take 100 percent of their classes online," said Dr. Julia Teahen, president, Baker College Online. "In just two years, Baker Online has grown from 1,870 students to 3,468 online-exclusive students. The flexibility of online education continues to provide opportunities for busy adults to achieve their higher education goals."

Also today, Baker College Center for Graduate Studies announced a 10 percent increase in enrollment, with 1,091 students enrolled winter quarter 2004, increasing from 986 students winter quarter 2003. A total of 1,020 Baker MBA students are currently attending 100 percent of their classes online through Baker Online.
